Jack Providenti

December in the Cibola National Forest, New Mexico and it is definitely winter. While growing up in the city, I didn't get to see a lot of clean, white snow. I suppose I am making up for it now...the light and shadow after a fresh snowfall are just amazing.

This painting is for sale, unframed @ $100.00 plus shipping. If you are interested in purchasing it please send me an  e-mail.

Snowy Woods Sunset by Jack Providenti

"Snowy Woods Sunset"
impressionism
8 x 10 inches oil on board

There is drama in the light and shadows of the forest. As the sun begins to set on an icy cold day, it darkens the trees and brightens the snow. The studio is right at the foot of the mountains of the Cibola Nationsl Forest in New Mexico and my paintings directly and spontaneously communicate the experience of being there.

This painting is for sale @ $110.00 plus shipping. It can be purchased by credit card through Pay Pal even if you don't have a PayPal account. I'm presently rebuilding my shopping cart, so send me an e-mail if you are interested.  For more information about it, or to order note cards or reproductions, please visit my web site or send me an e-mail.

First Snow

"First Snow"
impressionism
by
Jack Providenti
It is common to have an early snowfall in the mountains of New Mexico. This one stayed around for 5 days. Here it is early morning before there are footprints of man or beast. Fresh snow has the quality of soft shadows which create wonderful shadows. In painting it, I get a thrill from laying down the pure whites, as though I'm playing with snow.

This painting, or note cards & reproductions of it can be purchased theough PayPal wether you have a paypal account or not. Just send me an e-mail.

Dusk

"Dusk"
8 x 10 inches
oil on board
impressionism
by
Jack Providenti

In the forest, the small window of dusk allows a special enchantment and the fading daylight displays colors that one wouldn't ordinarily see. What I like about impressionistic painting is that the artist portrays his impression...his response to what he is viewing. I painted this in the Cibola National Forest in New Mexico.

If you are interested in purchasing this painting, or for reproductions, note cards, or to commission a larger painting, or mural, please send me an e-mail.  To see my paintings of Florida's Gulf Coast, please visit my web site

Walk Near The Aspens

8 x 10 inches
oil on board
impressionism
by
Jack Providenti

I followed a dirt road off the main hwy, passed a "no tresspassing" sign, and came upon this friendly Autumn scene. I was really inspired to paint this...the morning sunlight streaming through the Aspens on the left, while displaying the late summer colors along the path and up the hill.

Most of us think of New Mexico as desert, prairie, and sky, but there exists beyound that a world of endless hidden treasures such as this one neatly tucked into the mountains that stretch throughout the state.

I can make any of these 8x10 inch paintings in to a larger, oil on canvas for you on a commission basis...just contact me. To purchase this painting, or order reproductions or note cards of this or any of my paintings, simply send me an e-mail with your request. The Schoolhouse

Impressionism
by
Jack Providenti
To a landscape painter the terrain here is a paradise. Mojave Academy lies tucked in a valley in the middle of Cibola National Forest, New Mexico. Along the mountain slopes protecting the valley are Ponderosa Pines, Cedar, Oak & Pinion pines. In September the ground is randomly covered with purple and yellow wild flowers.

I've done a lot of painting here....this is one of my favorites.

If you would like to purchase this painting, or order reproductions or note cards please send me an e-mail. To see paintings that I have done of Florid'a Gulf Coast, please visit my web site.

"Cheri's Clouds...The Western Prairie" by Jack Providenti

8 x 10 inches
oil on board

Mind & Spirit feel the desire to wander here on the high desert plains of New Mexico. Some of us are invited by the rolling rythm of the hills, while others are inspired by the space that is opened up through the sky and clouds. I gave the clouds & and sky to Cheri.

While it may appear detailed to some degree, this painting is an impression. Impressionism is a stlyle of painting which is not intended to be a copy of a scene as much as it is the artist's  response to a scene.

If you would like to purchase ths painting, note cards or reproductions, please send me an e-mail . To see my paintings of the Gulf Coast of Florida, murals, and a variety of note cards, visit my web site.

The Fall season has arrived in the mountains... the night frost melting with the rising sun creates a kind of magical atmosphere. I took several photos of a misty morning and painted this scene. New Mexico Rabbit Brush

"The Rabbit Brush"
8 x 10 inches

I am fascinated with this stuff that is called "rabbit brush". Each bush grows to about three feet in diameter by September. They become a complete ground covering creating a greyish purple terrain dotted with bright yellow blooms. Here they sit at the entrance of a forest. If you are interested in note cards of this painting, please send me an e-mail.  More paintings and a variety of note cards are available on my web site

I guess you can say this is a scene from my back yard....Davenport Mountain, Datil, New Mexico. High Plains Butte

I painted this scene in what has been called "Georgia O'Keef''s Back Yard".... a vast area in the Rio Chama Valley where she lived and painted. The Rio Grande Gorge

This section of the Rio Grande winds about 20 miles south of Taos, New Mexicos' popular ski resort and art community. The rough terrain and white waters invite rafters from around the country. Is there a river in the U.S. that has witnessed more adventure than the Rio Grande?
This painting is 18"x24", gallery wrapped ( painted on the sides) oil on canvas.

Mount Sienna

I was inspired by seeing the mass of yellow-browns and reds resting on these golden plains...so I named this painting "Mount Sienna". I'm pretty sure that it was given an "official" name at some point in time, but then there are miles and miles of prarie and mountains across Catron and Socorro counties in New Mexico. This is a 15"x30" gallery wrapped oil on canvas. It is for sale.

Reproductions of this painting are also available. Note cards are 6 for $14.00, you can create your own assortment...choose from a wide variety. Reproductions start at $12.00 each ( 8"x10"). The windows and openess of it allows me to truly experience & be part of the enviroment....mountain, woods, valley, and even horses and elk grazing nearby add to the inspiration. In this photo I'm working on a painting of the Rio Grande which I'll soon publish.

Box Canyon

The sign on Rt 60 in Socorro County New Mexico has two words..."The Box"
Following the sign is a turn off that is easy to miss, it becomes a dirt road that winds for a few hundred yards. After getting out of my car and walking 200 ft or so, I saw what was meant by the sign. "Box Canyon" is my impression of that naturally created symmetry. 16'x20" gallery wrapped oil on Canvas. This painting is for sale.

High Plains ( in progress)

Here is a painting in progress.....a representation of the high plains desert in Western New Mexico. I'm noticing how the landscapes here kind of lend themselves to elements of abstract design. I've decided to do another rendition of this scene after it is completed...the second version will be an exercise in abstract art.

Oh...To Wander

A painting of a prairie in Socorro County, New Mexico. Socorro got its name in 1598 from explorer Juan de Onate, whose tired and hungry men were given food and shelter by the Piro Indians. "socorro" means "help", or "succor" in Spanish.

I was inspired to simply wander into the vastness of this area....and created a painting in the medium of pastels for you to wander into this open range. This is a framed piece on hardboard, 23"x35".

Reproductions of this painting are available. Note cards are 6 for $14.00. Reproductions start at $12.00 each ( 8"x10"). You can order by contacting me at fineartjp@aol.com To see more paintings and note cards visit my art gallery: http://www.jackprovidentiart.com/

Sea Oats At Pass-A-Grille Beach, St Petersburg, Florida

According to legend, Pass-A-Grille derives it's name from the French Passe aux Grillers. In 1857, John Gomez, self styled "last of the Pirates" began bringing excursionists here from Tampa.

Home of the popular Don Ceaser Hotel, Pass-A Grille Beach is now a popular vacation spot. I painted this scene using pastels during a quiet morning on the beach.

Lake Euphala is Oklahoma's largest, covering 102,000 acres and 600 miles of shoreline. The surrounding area has a colorful history, recalling such notorious characters as Belle Starr and the James-Younger gang. It was originally home to the Creek Indian Nation.

St Petersburg Marina sits on the western neck of Old Tampa Bay. With a colorful history that includes the Seminole Indians as well as the famous pirate, Gaspirilla, this area has been inhabited for over 12000 years

Stream's End At Sunken Gardens

Sunken Gardens is a botanical paradise in the middle of the bustling city of St Petersburg, Florida. The Garden contains over 500 species of tropical & subtropical plants amidst pools and cascading waterfalls.I was inspired by the abundance of light reflecting from the glossy tropical leaves and the sparkling stream. The painting is 8"x10" oil on board in an ornate gold frame.

Oregon Seagulls, Lincoln City

Lincoln City is a resort town on the Northern Oregon Coast. Formally named "Cutler City", it was received, in 1930, from Chief "Charley" DeFoe of the Siletz Native Americans, part of the present day Confederated Tribes of the Saletz who own and operate the Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City.

The rolling fog and remoteness of the coast created a sort of mystical atmosphere that inspired me to paint this. This is a 24"x30" oil on canvas. The painting has been sold, but reproductions are available. Note cards are 6 for $14.00. Reproductions start at $12.00 each ( 8"x10").
