What an incredible moment! A fresh snow that still leaves some remnants of Autumn. I painted this using pallet knife and brush. For those who are not familiar with horse terms, a tack shed is where one stores horse's equipment such as saddles, bridles, etc.

Here I'm back at Box Canyon in Socorro, New Mexico. This boulder seemed to be sitting in some kind of eerie suspension. I chose it as the focal point of the painting because it appears as though it is about to go into motion. I painted it from about 60 yards away.

The snow drifts are complimented by the stark contrasts created by the glaring winter sunlight pouring into the mountain forest. This painting is an expanded version of the 8 x 10 inch "Snow Drifts...A Study", which I painted a while ago.

I guess you can say this is a scene from my back yard....Davenport Mountain, Datil, New Mexico. For those of you who are not Westerners, the yellow stuff in the bottom of the painting is called rabbit brush. This is piece is part of a project I've taken on to do a painting a day. Rainy Sunset

Here is another one from what is known as "Georgia O'Keef''s Back Yard"....Abiquiu, New Mexico. A powerful storm came out of nowhere. It dispersed just after sunset, but the rain was still falling. I took several photos and created this scene from them. It is 18" x 24" oil on canvas.

Mount Sienna

I was inspired by seeing the mass of yellow-browns and reds resting on these golden plains...so I named this painting "Mount Sienna". I'm pretty sure that it was given an "official" name at some point in time, but then there are miles and miles of prarie and mountains across Catron and Socorro counties in New Mexico. This is a 15"x30" gallery wrapped oil on canvas. It is for sale.

Box Canyon

The sign on Rt 60 in Socorro County New Mexico has two words..."The Box"
Following the sign is a turn off that is easy to miss, it becomes a dirt road that winds for a few hundred yards. After getting out of my car and walking 200 ft or so, I saw what was meant by the sign. "Box Canyon" is my impression of that naturally created symmetry. 16'x20" gallery wrapped oil on Canvas. This painting is for sale.
