A Mountain Schoolhouse by Jack Providenti

6 x8 inches, oil on canvas

"When I was your age, I had to walk 10 miles to school in the snow!" Any parents or grandparents ever say that to you? Well, this is probably what the schoolhouse looked like! I actually painted this today ( 6" x 8"oil on canvas), and it's Mojave Academy....the school here in the mountains. No...you don't have to walk 10 miles to get to it as long as you live here.

For me, painting is the result of an experience that is so awesome, and so stunningly beautiful, that it needs to be communicated in a way that exaggerates and hails the miracle of nature. The artist takes privilege in endowing a landscape with his own personal aesthetic.
