"Morning Shadows, Sunset Beach" by Jack Providenti

"Morning Shadows", Sunset Beach"
Plein air, 4" x 6", oil on canavs
by Jack Providenti

This is a small gallery wrapped plein-air sketch in oils. I've decided to paint at least 50 of these by Thanksgiving and sell them for Christmas presents. There will be beaches, seascapes, tropical floral scenes, lakes, parks, and cityscapes.

"Kayaks For Rent", by Jack Providenti

"Kayaks For Rent"
12 x 16 inches, oil on canvs
By Jack Providenti

Driving through Fort De Soto Park when the colors and arrangement of the kayaks for rent sparked my interest. I painted most of it late morning when it was about 97 degrees. Spent about 2 hours before I went beyond my tolerance for the heat, so I finished it in my studio at home.

"Charisma" by Jack Providenti

"Charisma"
9 x 12 inches, oil on canvas
By Jack Providenti

"Charisma" 9 x 12 inches, oil on canvas...Docked at Demens Landing, St Pete. I saw this beauty tucked in the mangroves and was immediately inspired. That the boat is named "Charisma" is coincidental with the aura of the scene that morning.

Tequila Sunrise by Jack Providenti

"Tequila Sunrise"

8 x 10 inches, oil on canvas
by Jack Providenti
I couldn't think of a name for this one until I remembered the old movie "Tequila Sunrise" with Mel Gibson. Is that stealing? Well, I guess I'm a pirate.

Live Figure Drawing, Second Session

Live Figure Drawing at Softwater Studios, St Pete

This was a twenty minute pose. I'm primarily a landscape/seascape painter, and after two and a half hours of drawing from live models...several poses of two to four minutes, then five twenty minute poses, I'm beginning to see the virtue of studying live models as an added discipline.

"Partly Cloudy" by Jack Providenti

"Partly Cloudy"
24 x 48 inches, oil on canvas
by Jack Providenti

Just finished! This is a relatively large piece being four ft long and two ft high. There were lots of possibilities for naming it, being a sunrise at the St Pete Marina. However, it was definitely partly cloudy!

"Caddy's...Sunset Beach" by Jack Providenti

"Cady's...Sunset Beach"
8 x 10 inches, oil on canvas
by Jack Providenti

"Caddy's"...Sunset Beach. This is a plein-air painting that I did over a year ago, and found it when I moved recently. Touched it up a little today. It was painted just before sunset. By chance, a professional photographer was sitting there enjoying the scenery with his camera, so he filmed me painting! One of those shots is now my business card logo.

"Break Of Dawn, St Pete Marina"....beginning stages

Just started this today, "Break Of Dawn, St Pete Marina"....it's a large piece, 24 x 48 inches. I've been painting a lot of small pieces, so this big one will get me to loosen up some. Lots of masts, which will come after I'm satisfied with the sky.

A Quiet Morning At The Beach

"A Quiet Morning At The Beach"

8 x 10 inches, oil on board
by

I got to the beach before the crowds & painted this quick sketch. I'm doing a lot of small pieces in order to re-acquaint myself with the environment here.

"Before The Storm"

"Before The Storm"
8 x 10 inches, oil on canvas

I was painting this on the beach when the storm clouds began to form.....made me a little nervous, but I got out of there just in time. The pink building is the Don Cesar.

Sold! "Morning Mood"

"Morning Mood"
oil on canvas, 20 x 24 inches

Sold! "Morning Mood" It appears to me that a painting, once completed, has it's own destiny. I've sold a few right off the easel....paint still wet, but this one stayed with me 8 months before finding a home.
